At Wirtz Elementary School, student well-being is an important part of the learning experience. Through Lunch Bunch, school counselor Miss Alejandra and school social worker Miss Ayala provide students with a welcoming alternative space to connect with peers, participate in social-emotional games, and develop skills to navigate their emotions. 

Through SEL lessons coordinated by Counselor Ayanna Holland and Librarian Felicia Burch, students in grades 3–5 created colorful feathers that came together as Mokler’s Wings of Freedom, inspired by Frida Kahlo’s words: “Feet, what do I need you for when I have wings to fly?”

For the Mokler Pilots, there may be no better message: Together, we can fly high! 🪽

Paramount Unified School District came together on Friday, September 25, for an unforgettable evening celebrating Hispanic culture, heritage, and community. 

Families, students, staff, and community members filled Alondra Middle School for the District’s annual Hispanic Heritage Celebration, creating a vibrant evening centered on culture, connection, and pride. 

The celebration brought together members of the Paramount Unified School District community, including the PUSD Board of Education and Superintendent Joshua Lightle, Ed.D., who joined families and staff in celebrating the many cultures and traditions represented throughout the District. 

Homecoming brought the Pirate community together!

More than 300 ninth graders joined a special tailgate before heading into an evening of football, cheer, marching band, Homecoming Court and Sports Medicine—all capped by a 65–0 PHS victory over Dymally!

With grades 9–12 coming together on one campus in 2027–28, Homecoming offered a glimpse of an exciting future.

Families filled classrooms across Paramount Unified this week as 10 elementary schools welcomed their communities for TK–5 Back-to-School Night. Even amid record heat, families came out in strong numbers to meet teachers, learn about the year ahead and celebrate the start of a new school year.

Paramount Unified School District students attended the College and Career Fair at Cerritos College this past Saturday, an event made possible through the collaboration of the Western Association for College Admission Counseling (WACAC), Paramount USD, Bellflower USD, and Lynnwood USD, that brought together more than 100 colleges and universities from across the state, the country, and even outside of the country.

🎉 There was much to celebrate at the September 9 Board of Education meeting!

The Board recognized PHS Speech & Debate’s historic first trip to Nationals, FCCLA’s outstanding national finishes, and U.S. News Best High Schools honors for PHS and Odyssey STEM Academy. We also welcomed Michelle Cribari, Interim Principal, and Wendy Crockett, Interim Assistant Principal, to their new leadership roles at Alondra Middle School.

Congratulations to our students and school leaders—and thank you to the teachers, staff, administrators and families who help create opportunities for our students to thrive! 👏

Our middle schools welcomed families last night for Back-to-School Night, creating an evening filled with connection, community, and excitement for the year ahead.

Paramount High School’s Senior Campus came alive at lunch during Club Rush, where dozens of student clubs and organizations invited Pirates to explore interests, meet new people and find their place on campus. Coordinated by ASB under the direction of Jessica Walker, the event highlighted the many ways students can get involved and build connections at PHS.
