High School Back-to-School Nights Put Students’ Futures Front and Center

Families joined students and staff at Paramount High School, Odyssey STEM Academy and Buena Vista High School on September 10 for High School Back-to-School Night. Students often took the lead, guiding parents through their schools, introducing teachers and sharing the learning and programs shaping their high school experience. The evening strengthened an important partnership between students, families and schools.

High school is a time when learning begins to become direction. Skills built in elementary and middle school are put to work through strong academics, Career Technical Education, STEM, the arts and other programs. Students can explore interests in areas such as medical careers, engineering, graphic arts, culinary arts and hospitality. These experiences help students discover their “why”—a reason to attend, learn, work hard and plan for what comes next. Along the way, students build friendships and learn to communicate, collaborate and develop healthy relationships.

Recent honors offer evidence of this work. Odyssey STEM Academy and Paramount High School earned recognition in the 2026–27 U.S. News Best High Schools rankings, while Buena Vista was once again named a 2026 California Model Continuation High School. Behind these achievements are students, families and staff working together to help every student find purpose, belonging and a path toward college, career and life. Families are encouraged to keep the conversation going: Ask your student what interests them and where they hope their learning will take them. Not yet part of a Paramount school?
