Paramount Unified School District Welcomes New Assistant Superintendent Pamela Salgado

Paramount, CA — The Paramount Unified School District Board of Education is pleased to announce the appointment of Pamela Salgado as Assistant Superintendent following Board approval at the June 10 Board Meeting. Ms. Salgado brings more than 30 years of educational experience and a proven record of leadership in secondary education, student services, and district administration.

Ms. Salgado began her career in education at Azusa High School, where she taught college and career readiness courses before advancing into leadership roles. She later served as a Coordinator overseeing WASC accreditation, AVID, and Career Technical Education (CTE) programs, helping to expand opportunities and improve outcomes for students.

In 2014, Ms. Salgado was appointed Assistant Principal at Covina High School and subsequently became Principal of Upland High School in 2016. She continued her leadership journey in Upland Unified School District, serving as Assistant Superintendent of Secondary Education beginning in 2019. For the past four years, she has served as Assistant Superintendent of Student Services, providing strategic leadership and oversight of programs designed to support the academic, social-emotional, behavioral, and wellness needs of students.

Throughout her career, Ms. Salgado has earned a reputation as a trusted problem solver and collaborative leader. Colleagues describe her as responsive, thoughtful, supportive, organized, and efficient. She is widely respected for her professionalism and confidence when working with families and staff and is frequently sought out for her guidance and expertise. Letters of recommendation describe her as a remarkable leader, mentor, and advocate for students and employees who remains present, engaged, and committed to ensuring accountability and positive outcomes.

Ms. Salgado shared that she is honored to join Paramount Unified and looks forward to building strong relationships throughout the district while supporting the continued success and well-being of all students. She will officially begin her new role as Assistant Superintendent on July 1.
